SUMMARY:2021 Illinois Conference Annual Celebration
DESCRIPTION:STRONGER TOGETHER: Annual Celebration \n\n“A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.” Ecclesiastes 4:12b\n\nThis year’s Annual Celebration will be a little different! The completely virtual format\, held from November 16 – 20\, will offer inspiring worship services and learning opportunities as well as sessions for conducting the business of our conference.\n\nBeginning Tuesday\, November 16\, each day will offer different ways for participants to connect. Each morning will begin with a devotional time to set our intention for the day. Afternoons will offer learning opportunities and evenings will have worship services\, panel discussions and fellowship time.\n\nThis year’s learning opportunities include an All-Conference Book Discussion Day with Rev. Dr. Terrill Murph leading a discussion on the book\, Culture Catalyst by Samuel Chand\, and Rev. Gloria Cox will lead a discussion on the book\, The Color of Compromise by Jemar Tisby.  You’ll want to read the books and come prepared for great discussions.\n\nBeginning Wednesday\, November 17\, Dr. Velda Love\, Minister for Racial Justice of the UCC\, will lead a 2-day workshop\, Sacred Conversations to End Racism\, “a Restorative Racial Justice Journey curriculum created to address and dismantle racism within the Christian Church and society.” Resources for pre-reading and pre-viewing of videos prior to the class will be provided with registration for the workshop.\n\nOther highlights of Annual Celebration are:\n\nNovember 16: Opening Worship with Conference Minister\, Rev. Molly Carlson\n\nNovember 18: Interactive Panel on Financial Status of Conference\n\nNovember 19: Keynote Address with Rev. Dr. John Dorhauer\n\nNovember 19 & 20: Business Sessions\n\nNovember 20: Closing Worship with Rev. Jesse Knox\n\nThe fee for this year’s Annual Celebration is also different! The fee is $100 per church so anyone from a local church can participate in the learning and worship activities throughout the week! Those designated as delegates from churches will be given access at the appropriate times for the all of the business sessions for the week.\n\nThe Annual Planning Team is looking forward to a great week of worship\, learning and fun! Let’s gather together and share as we all grow STRONGER TOGETHER as the Illinois Conference!
