DESCRIPTION:\n\nWELCOME to our All Conference Chat\, happening every Wednesday at 3:00 p.m on Zoom. These conversations are designed to help us grow Stronger Together as One Conference throughout the year and are open to all clergy and lay persons who wish to attend.\n\nThis week we will be joined by Rev. H. Scott Matheney\, University Chaplain for Elmhurst University (formerly Elmhurst College)\, a private liberal arts institution founded in 1871 by the German Evangelical Synod of the Northwest\, a predecessor of the United Church of Christ. Scott will be joining us to talk about Elmhurst's 150th anniversary and the University's long standing connection to and roots in the UCC. In honor of the 150th anniversary\, there is a call inviting churches in the Illinois Conference to covenant with Elmhurst University as we look to the future and envision what the next 150 years will look like. The message below from Scott shares more about what this covenant means and looks like.\n\nTo covenant with Elmhurst\, each congregation defines what that covenant means and lives into that 150th anniversary leading into the coming years.\n\nAs Chaplain\, I am inviting each community of faith to:\n\n\tLift up higher education\, exploring its role in the greater US society\, and how each\nlocal setting reflects and engages higher education.\n\tAsking local communities of faith to help identify alums\, and those connected with\nElmhurst University. (Faculty\, staff\, administrators\, present students\, trustees\, friends)\n\tAllow us to place the name of your community of faith on a permeant plaque in the\nUniversity Chapel\n\tOffer prayer for all in higher education\, students\, faculty staff trustees\, and\nElmhurst University\n\nThis invitation carries many possibilities and hopes for our common future as we give thanks for our past\, joy in the present\, and hope for the future.\nThe formal year of celebration is Graduation - May 2021 to May 2022\n\nPlease contact the Chaplain to join\, request information\, and for further conversations:\nH.
